The mission of the Procurement Division is to administer the procurement of all equipment, supplies, materials and maintenance services
for MDOT, assuring that they are purchased in an efficient and economical manner within the rules, regulations, procedures and laws of
the state of Mississippi. This includes making recommendations as deemed necessary. The Procurement Division is divided into three areas
which work in cooperation to process MDOT’s contracts and purchases:
Advertisement – The advertisement section is primarily responsible for the advertising of commodities, services, equipment, and supplies.
This includes obtaining new or revised specifications, proper advertisement, making recommendations for award, and the forwarding of
documentation to the contracts section of Procurement Division for contract execution.
Contracts – The contracts section is responsible for assuring that all contracts for the purchase of commodities and services assigned to
the Procurement Division are correctly processed and that all contracts are executed within predetermined time restraints. This includes
advance notification to districts/divisions of impending contract terminations.
Purchase Order Processing – This section is responsible for approving requests from the districts and divisions and processing them into
purchase orders. Section employees assure that purchase orders are processed through the Statewide Automated Accounting System (SAAS) and
the MDOT FMS in an effective and timely manner.
